We are going to Disney world

Ok, so I'm going to more than likely be schedule for my DS on October 15.  We have a trip planned to Florida for the beginning of January.  So here is my question: where were you at at almost 3 months out?  What was your weight loss like?  What were you able to eat? What about your wounds and healing? My surgeon didn't seem to think anything of it.  I told him about it first thing and that I am looking forward to fitting in the airplane seat and on rides with my kids.  Advice please?  Also, if anyone has been to Disney or other theme park type areas post DS, please pass on advice or suggestions or things you loved or things you didn't.  Thanks in advance!

Have fun, have water with you all the time, know where the closest bathroom is (if you happen to be a loose pooper this early out), start walking a lot now to get in shape, avoid carbs at all costs, look for high protein snacks or take them with you, have a way to take your sorted vitamins and protein powder in your luggage and a spare day or 2 in your carry-on, and take lots and lots of pictures. :)

Yay! You will have a great time at Disney!

We do either Disney land or world every year or two, so I was only a few months post op on one of our visits. The rides are more accommodating than other parks, so even if your not skinny yet, there won't be an issue with fitting into anything.

Appropriate food was also easy to find, whether is was a turkey leg from a outdoor cart, or in the nicer restaurants.

As far as other parks, you are going when Universal has it's Halloween Horror Nights, which is my FAVORITE! It really can be scary, so only OK if your kids are bigger, not littles. I've made trip to Florida just for Universal HHN, as CA's HHNs isn't quite as good.

Hi,

I had my surgery in March 2012 but had a lot of complications so I am just starting the walking and exercise regime now. We are going to Disneyland in November around Thanksgiving so just in case I have rented a scooter. I just don't know because of being bedridden for 5 months if I will be up for all the walking. They rent scooters at the park just like wheelchairs and strollers so you will have the option just in case. I am not the norm though and from what others are saying you should do fine.

Have fun! Terri

At 3 mos out, you may tire easily, so don't try to do everything at once.  All wounds should be healed, though.

I would expect that you'd be a size or two smaller and down around 50+ lbs.

You should be eating normally enough in tiny portions, so you can con someone into sharing a meal with you.

My only concern would be whether or not your bathroom visits would be on schedule yet, for that may pose a challenge or point of anxiety.
