How does everyone get along eating grits?  I LOVE grits.  I eat mine with lots and lots and lots of butter and salt/peper.

Does anyone have bad side effects from them?

I haven't had grits in AGES!  But I love them!  I always get the old-fashioned kind, that you have to cook for a while.

Bacon grease was always what we topped ours with when I was growing up.  Plain grits and bacon grease left over from frying the bacon for breakfast.  Some folks I know make cheese grits,  and still others fry them into patties with sausage bits in them.

Guess what I'm having for breakfast tomorrow...or maybe even dinner tonight!

Early out, they filled me up fast.  Nowadays, near 7 yrs post op, I love them.  I'll do loads of butter/salt/pepper, or I'll do them with eggs and sausage gravy.   mmmMMMMmmm

Shrimp and grits made with bacon is one of my favorites. At three years out, grits agree with me in moderation. Not a food to eat when you are still trying to loose weight though.

Yes, please. Same as you with lots of butter, salt and pepper. I usually have them once a week but tried to limit them until I reached goal.
