Did anyone lose their hair with DS?
Despite vitamin supplementation, I had hair loss.... it got patchy for a while, and I cut it really short and was self concious for a while. The hair grew back, the weight stayed off.... Looking back, I wouldn't have let it be a deciding factor. My hair is silky soft and fine....same texture as it was before.... and I looked pretty cute with really short hair... maybe I'll try it again some day just for fun.... I look SO much better with the pounds off...so...definitely worth it!
Other people have had better success with Biotin vitamins, etc.... it didn't help me much..
Good Luck! Mary C

Biotin just made my chin hair grow...did nothing for my head. Mine was thin pre-op, got really thin, so I cut it short. It's back thick now but MUCH curlier than before (was just wavy), and the texture has changed some but it looks good.
It's also not a deciding factor as to whether I had weight loss surgery or not. Hair is superficial, I wanted the weight OFF!

You will have some hair loss. That is normal for ANY surgical procedure. You lose some hair because of the stress of surgery on the body. After surgery, you can take high doses of biotin and make sure to keep you protein intake high to keep new hair growth healthy. I have always had thin and fine hair and lost a minimal amount. Nothing too dramatic. Some lose more, some lose less. It is an individual thing...but you will not lose ALL of your hair, lol.
