completely dont understand this surgery....bad experience from the beginning

hello, my name is tiffaney and i am rejoining this support group in hopes of finding help. i had a procedure that was classified as a duodenal switch in june of last year. needless to say it didnt go well to say the least. i posted on here shortly after surgery and and my surgeons office pretty much blasted me off this page with their bogus patient profiles saying i didnt know what i was  talking about and stop bad mouthing my surgeon (they forgot to mention he handed me back all of my money on my 1 week post op visit because he said he didnt do what he was suppose to have done but he did enough.
i will start from the beginning. i met my surgeon one time, scheduled a preop and bam had surgery a week later.i never saw him in the hospital before during or after surgery. i was bumped 3 times because he had to fix 2 pateints.i was a desperate patient who has already had 3 failed weight loss surgeries so i was desperate for corrective action. i found my surgeon on here and he seemed good enough with good reccommendations. i didnt know at the time that his licensed is censored for neglective care. i never received diet education so i never learned what to eat, how to eat, how much to eat. i only have the bottom portion of my switch done which means i can eat as much and whatever i want to.. i just dont absorb anything. i have only literally lost 70 pounds on the scale but have shrunk alot. im not complaining about that one bit. i am however severely vitamin depleted to where it is affecting my heart and eyesight at the moment and i suffer from bleeding problems now. i will not see the doctor who did my surgery because i am terrified he is an awful dr. he did a screw up job and gave me my money back to shut me up and i wont let him touch me again because it would be too easy for him to nic an artery to alleviate a problem. i need to have surgical intervention to save my health or a doctor that will get me on the right healthy trac. i am in the central texas region and need help ASAP. my doctor who did the surgery is in ft worth and i have contacted several local bariatric surgeons who wont touch my drs 'mess'. any suggestions or advice on how to get my vitamin levels up and feel healthy again...i am exhausted all the time and usually cant concentrate long. i bleed like a stuck pig because i am severely deficient in vitamin A,D,E AND K AND all other vitamins are below acceptable levels,,b's, c, ferritin, glucose and any other vitamins you can think of...please help if anyone has suggestions.

I am so sorry for your experience. I just wanted to post because it takes alot of guts to post your reality on here. It is a scary experience to meet with the surgeon once then BAM...your under. This just goes to show how desparate alot of us are to get WLS. There's got to be someone you can contact on the Texas Bariatric Board. Did you file a complaint? You need to. Is this Dr. still practicing? I would call the Board to find out if there is anyone taking care of this Dr.'s patients. I wish you the best of luck. I have not had the DS yet...lapband here wanting it out. Got it in Mexico and had a pretty good experience there as far as surgery. Good luck to you.

Ok, Tiffany....deep breath.

Now, post what EXACTLY you are taking for supplements and when.  That will go a long way in helping us help you.  Also, post your last lab values.  That will help as well.  You need to get your malnutrition under control before you will be able to have ANY kind of surgery.  I would recomment calling Dr. Stewarts office.  Also, get in with your PCP to get those labs done EVERY 3 months.

I don't know what you have been taking for supplements...but you better go to vitalady.com and get on her DS regimen yesterday!  For food, focus on protein, protein, protein and fat.  If I understood what you read correctly, you've never had anything done to your stomach?  What other WLS have you had?

Contact your surgeons office and demand a copy of your operative report ASAP.  You HAVE to know what he did to you.  Knowing what your common channel is will help you too.

Vitalady does a 90 day starter pack and that's the MINIMUM you'll need given the problems you have. Labs of course will help, but if you have to wait for those I'd get on the starter pack while you're waiting.

Dietwise if you're not yet at goal you need to do Atkins, ie protein and fat and cut out the carbs (sugar, fruit, flour).

Regardless of goal, you need to get 100g protein a day, but I suspect you need to get closer to 200g if you're deficient, which you will be if you've not been focussing on proteing. Vitalady also sells protein shakes so that'll help. With all your deficiencies surgery is risky, as you're bleeding without surgery.

DSfacts.com lists Dr Stewart and Dr Wilson as surgeons in Texas.

Ok, first and foremost, we need to know what you are taking for vitamins, and it would also be helpful to know your latest lab results.  Secondly - give us an example of what you are eating during a typical day.  We can try to help you as much as we can, but we need more information to do so.  Were you able to get your operative reports from this botched surgery?  You need to contact the hospital where you had your surgery done and get them if you haven't already.  No other surgeon is going to be able to help you if they don't know what is going on in there.

This is very serious!    The some of the issues you are having due to deficiency are not reversible just fixing your labs!

You need to get help from a qualified doctor.   Until then you should provide to us the following to try and help you a bit.

1.  What exactly did you get in your surgery.  What is your exact anatomy.   Do you have a copy of your surgical report?

2.  What suppliments are you taking ... in what quantity and when.

3.  What are you eating daily?   Protein total?   Carb total?    Water total?

4.  When did you last have your FULL DS labs pulled?    Get thee to a lab and have them pulled!   There are lists on here what should be drawn ... at minimum have your PCP write your script for them to be pulled.   When you get them back ... post them.

You will find the OH DS board is very quite these days.  Not like old times.   Most have moved on to another message board as there were issues with OH and many decided to bail on them.   Some vets stop in from time to time though.
