Hello All
I am almost 11 months post op DS from lap band revision. I am down 75lbs and 5lbs from my goal weight. For the the last 2 weeks I have been sooooooo hungry. I am eating almost 5 to 6 times a day and craving food. Is this normal??? Help!!!!!! PS I love my DS so happy I switched!!!!

I think it's pretty normal. I'm a grazer though, so I'm always munching on something...I need to keep it to protein.

I was hungry all the time and then I switched to grazing on protein and low carb veggies and upped my water and I am hardly ever hungry. With that change I broke a stall and am dropping faster than I thought possible.

Thumbs up for grazing!  I use Kashi Go Lean (red box) as my snack food, as well as for breakfast.  It has 13 grams of protein per serving, and  high fiber, which keeps me feeling full longer.   The bonus is I'm getting some protein in at the same time, although, animal protein is more bioavailable than vegetable/grain protein.

Hi There!  I was also a Crap-Band survivor, and am sooooooooo grateful for my DS!  I also am hungry ALL the time, although I think its partly in my head because I know I can eat all the time as long as it's good stuff.  I also have a real sweet tooth so good choices do not always come my way!  :)

Lately I have been really making an effort with my protein and have started eating protein bars since they are sweet with a chewy consistency which I like.  I have had trouble with bars in the past, ALOT of gas and bloating etc, but believe it or not Snickers Marathon bars are OK with me.  I can't eat more than one  day or it gives me gas, but I find if I have 1/2 in the morning and later in the afternoon I have the other 1/2, I give myself a treat and it has 21gms of protein!

Also I like to eat baby carrots dipped in hummus or dressing -- YUM!  I also eat cold cuts wrapped in cheese slices for a quick snack.

One of the fantastic things about the DS is that we can eat as much as we want as long as we make relatively good (no one is perfect!) decisions.

Gotta love your DS!  Good luck!

I had to laugh at your Crap-Band survivor comment!! You made my night!! LOL
I too am one and trying desparately to figure out what surgery to switch to!!
I have been told by many to do the Duodenal Switch...that way I can eat more normally and still take NSAIDS..I have arthritis in my back (degenarative) I am very worried now about having a RNY or MGB for fear I can't take any NSAIDS anymore!
What would I do for the pain! UGH.
Anyways, just wanted to say it made me laugh when I read it...We call mine that also!!  LOL
