I am so excited to finally have a date for my DS...October 8!  Any words of advice as I prepare over the next six weeks.

Congratulations!  I think I started walking to try to get in better shape. By this time I was concentrating on eating a lot of protein...in between having "last suppers".  Stay busy!  :)

Congrats! Get as fit as possible. It will help your recovery a lot! Prepare as much as possible ahead of time as the first two weeks are hard( You are tired and sore). Good luck!

Walk
Blow up balloons (to get your lungs strong)
Get your vitamin levels up so you won't deplete your reserves
Find a recliner to borrow or buy for post op recovery at home
Get a timer for setting to remind you to eat/take vites/take your temperature
Have a thermometer
Listen to recordings like "Successful Surgery" by Belleruth Naparstek - (surprisingly one of the best things I did before surgery)
Clean everything/pay bills ahead of time - the less you have to do for 6 weeks post -surgery the better
Read 100 pages of OH posts
Look at before/after pics - I did this when I would get scared and couldn't think straight.  It reminded me that so many people had taken this leap of faith before me and looked really happy afterwards

Cheers,
Cathy
