vsg to ds question

I everyone..Here is a brief overview...I had the vsg 6 years ago and in the last 8 months I have gained 25 pounds(plus was 10-15 pounds above my goal weight). I feel as though I did pre vsg although my pouch is still in good shape. I have "battled" with my weight gain these last 2 years and am really struggling now. I am curious if anyone has had a "customized DS" meaning I dont need to lose alot right now 30-45 lbs but I am afraid that if I keep going I will need to lose alot more. I have a great weight los surgeon in LA and he thinks if none of my labs are bad and I dont have alot of other physical issues that I should "accept" the weight gain.... which makes me wonder if the surgery would cause me more issues in the long run or if I would run the risk of losing too much weight right now? I am in a dilema right now and would love to hear your input. I am scared to keep gaining! Thanks

Many, if not most, of the DSrs are on proboards or a private Facebook group. Are you interested in joining there? I can send you the links.

There are surgeons who will do modified common channel lengths for lightweights. You may want to talk to consult with Dr Keshishian.  Contact info for DS surgeons can be found on www.dsfacts.com.

Thanks so much Gina!  Please send me the link you are talking about. Dr K is my Dr. He is terrific. A modified channel length sounds exactly like what I need, now I know what to begin researching.
Thanks again!!

Thank you again!! Feel like there may be some "hope" again although Dr, K may be reluctant if I dont have other physical symptoms at this point :(    He is going to run some labs and we will go from there...

No surgeon is going to give you the DS to help you lose 30 lbs.  You have to be 100lbs overweight all over again.

Thanks for the info. I am about 4o-45 pounds total now and really struggling. That is why I was looking into a 'customized or modified ds...so I dont have to get to the 100 pounds again. Uggg!! But I also understand it is a huge surgery and could see why it may not be possible to have it done as yet...although my dr is wanting me to have labs done as well as looking at my physical symptoms...in the meantime I am going to a 12 step program for food and seeing someone to help me.  I just never thought with the vsg that I would be back in the same boat and I am guessing it is the compulsive eater in me but I did have 51/2 good years...Something seems to have dramatically changed though :( ...will continue on my journey...

All the VSG gives you is the benefit of satiety and less grehlin production.  Other than that, your body is still working as designed, so you need to treat it as such.  All dieting rules apply, but you'll not be near as miserable as someone without the vsg.  Adding malabsorption is nothing to play with for the small amount you need to lose, which is why they require you to be morbidly obese again.   You can totally do this.  Look at how far you've come already.  30 lbs is nothing.  Just treat it like it's brand new and you may surprise the heck out of yourself.
