6 days post op with a headache

I am 7 days postop from my DS. I have had an amazing recovery. At this point I don't even feel like I had surgery. Almost no pain in my abdomen.

However, I started getting a headache yesterday and today my head is pounding. I am not dehydrated...I've had no trouble drinking, no dry mouth, urine looks okay (sorry for all the info).

I'm waiting to hear back from my doc about this. I'm wondering if it might be from so little food for a week? Or maybe it's because they were giving me juice and vitamin water and other sweet drinks in the hospital and now yesterday I switched to sugar free when I was released.

Any thoughts? Anyone else experience this?

Thanks!

No advice other than pop some painkillers ASAP (remember to eat something if you take an NSAID).  You've already sensibly contacted your doc - maybe give him a nudge if you don't hear back soon as you don't want to be left hanging all weekend.

BTW congratulations.  Did you have Dr Ungson too or just Dr Aceves?

I had surgery about 26 months ago (non WLS--another issue), and I had a terrible headache for a couple of days after stopping pain meds. For me it was all the nacortics withdrawing from my system. Hope you feel better soon.

 Thanks for the replies.

I had Aceves and Ungson. I think of them as my dream team.

Anything sweetened with asparatame gives me a headache.  If it has that little warning at the end of the ingredients list "contains phenylaninon:"  (not spelled right)  I have to avoid it.

Thanks for all your replies. I'm pretty sure the issue is that I just wasn't getting enough calories with the switch to sugar free everything. I have now found that if I try to get in something with some calories (juice or a protein shake) the headache goes away.

I found my neck was out of alignment fron surgery/hospital stay, but did not really notice it until after I was off the pain meds. A trip to the chiropractor and it was instant relief.
