Base for Protein Shakes
When I was a new post-op I used Lactaid milk. Now I use part 1/2 & 1/2 and par****er.

According to my surgeon, many people become lactose intolerant after the DS, and if you were not LI to begin with, it will reverse.
On the other hand, those of us who were LI as pre-ops will get worse post-op, and let me tell you, it was so bad for me, I was back in the hospital 48 hours after I got out for IV fluids! The culprit was not only milk, it was WHEY PROTEIN! My surgeon told me to use whey protein isolate. It is more expensive, but most of the lactose is processed out.
I used Lactaid milk (Wally World store brand) for the first year and a half. Then, I used a big dose (about 4 pills) of the Wally World equivalent of Lactaid pills and regular milk.
Now, at 3 years out I use Whey Protein Isolate and regular Vit D milk. Apparently, and I have no proof, but I'm assuming that the WPI neutralizes the lactose in the regular milk.
Try WPI and see if it makes a difference. You may be able to get a 1 pound bag at your local health food store just to try, if they do their own packaging.
I use unflavored, and use extracts, fruit and coaco to flavor.
Gina, you use 1/2 & 1/2 and what? It got all bleeped out. Thanks for the reply though. I have liked 1/2 & 1/2 but I always feel guilty because of all the fat. It's so hard to undue a lifetime of thinking about fat that way and dieting!
Jazzy, the whey I use now is isolate so maybe it's the milk. I'm going to start keeping a detailed journal to try to pinpoint the source of the bloating but I'm pretty sure it's tied to my protein shakes. I could even try those pills you talked about. Worth a shot.
Thanks for the replies ladies!

Equal parts half and half and water. That gives me the creamy taste with less carbs than milk.
