I had my surgery 2 weeks ago and I am CRAVING dill pickels badly. I am on the puree diet still... does anyone else crave them? i am thinking of putting a little in a blender with the juice to curb the craving? any suggestions?

I noticed after my surgery I craved things I never did before.   I would purée them as much as you can.   You really want to follow the diet regimen to a t while being just post op.   I am 18 months post op (bonanni did my surgery). Best best dr !!!!! Any questions please feel free to ask me.  I have lost 183 pounds so far.  13!lbs to go.

Good Luck.

I am finding that it is hard to eat food that is pureed. Since I am craving things like pickels. I was craving cheese the other day so i ate the inside of a cheese ravioli. Especially since i did not want to eat the pasta. But its becoming hard cause i am trying to get my protein in a day and that makes me not want to eat at all! any suggestions on that? they want me to eat but after drinking a protein shake it makes me wanna get sick. and i agree... love dr. b!

I lost almost 30lbs since surgery 8/1/12!!!

There are some things that shouldn't be pureed---they become disgusting. But the pickles should do okay. Just be careful about overdoing them---pickle juice is a good laxative. (*grin*)

I (scheduled for 10/3) wondered if others had cravings... My mom (2 years out) and sister (3 years out) both crave onions !  Neither one can seem to get enough of them !

Ha ha, I'm 3 weeks out today and I just had to have some pickled beets yesterday.  I just chewed them to mush, but my stomach was done 20 months ago so I've got a bit less to worry about.

You may be craving the salt. Add Powerade Zero for the patassium and sodium.

I don't remember craving anything 2 weeks out...that was back in 2009, but I do remember I really had a lot of trouble eating,  *period*.

Make sure whatever it is, it's well pureed, and if it feels like it's giing to upset your new stomach (you'll know quickly), back off of it until later.  Nothing's worse that having the heaves with a new sleeve!

Dill pickle juice. I kid you not. I know quite a few who have been on liquid diets who drank some. It is also great post-hangover or for dehydration. We see it a lot on the Renaissance Festival circuit.
