Is there anybody here that can help me find info on how to get the DS? My insurance has exclusions and will NOT cover the surgery even if the doctor says it needs to be done. I have been denied for medical loans. I NEED this surgery done....really its life or death and I want to live. ANY help will be fine

I'm not sure what kind of information is out there. I had to wait 10 years to get the surgery because we kept having different plans that didn't cover it and I couldn't afford self pay. Maybe hire an advocate or something? Sorry not to be helpful but when I was looking into it I couldn't find anything except loans and credit cards. Hope someone else can help.

Might be worth checking into grant programs like these. There are many more. Just google WLS grant programs

DS is a awesome surgery no doubt about it. The surgery is 32 grand here for self pay. If your in that bad of financial straights maybe the sleeve would be a good jumping of point for you. It's 17 grand self pay here in NE.

I took out a 401K loan to pay for my sleeve and plastics.

Good luck

Dr. Daryl Stewart in Texas has some of the better self pay prices.

Unfortunately, if WLS is an exclusion on your insurance there's not much to be done except appeal to your employer to pick up the WLS coverage.
