Colonoscopy - after Duodenal Switch - DS

My hubby had his first one post-DS.  Totally easy!  He took the prep and got cleaned out, no problem.  It was over before he knew it.

I know you're nervous about results.  Remember, even if they find something odd (and they very most likely will not), they have to biopsy it to diagnose it.  Hopefully they can take a sample of anything odd they see right there, and send it to the lab so you won't have to return.  Most of growths and tumors are benign, and some people get those regularly.

You can schedule them every two or three years if you're concerned because of your family history.

Hang in there!

I will be having one on Monday. I was scheduled for this past Wednesday but the miralax didn't work for me Abe doctor rescheduled. The worse. So now I'm taking the tri-lite for 2 days. Extra worse. This better clean me out this time. I too have family history of colon cancer but have been tummy problems too. The doctor thinks IBS. I will be glad when this is over with. I did get tested for celiac disease and it came back negative.

It helps to eat a low residue diet for a few days prior to your "clean out."  Google low residue diet.

Thanks for posting that NYB, I forgot to add that two days prior, I'm to be on a low residual diet, then one day prior clear liquids only, along with the Dulcolax etc.

WOW! Again, all my friends on here are so great and have such great information. I guess I was not really thinking the scope only did the large intestine - just not thinking it through, I guess ;\

I am worried about the prep as well - seems horrific. Also I am suffering from an anal fissure right now that makes life totally miserable. I will weigh in once I have made it through the procedure and let you all know how it went.

Thanks all of you for the heartfelt, sincere advice! Hugs
Brenda
