DS and birth control pills

Obviously you value your convenience over the potential to have children.  That is your right.  I hope when you want to that you get pregnant easily and have no problems.  Think again about this risk - it's not worth it.

Nuvaring works beautifully and is easy to use.  And there is no risk of uterine perforation.

That's true, if you don't have a tilted uterus or unusually shaped/positioned cervix. Nuvaring still has an increased risk of stroke and heart attack. The Mirena IUD is literally the only form of hormonal BC I can use without unpleasant and potentially serious side-effects. I've bled for weeks on end while using anything else, I also have had migraines which puts me at even higher risk of stroke. This is not just about convenience for me. But even if it was, yes, I would value that more as an everyday thing in my present than a potential future event.

Have you tried Nuvaring?

No, I'm not interested in it and based on discussions with my gyno I decided that Mirena was safer (based on my history of migraine) and more likely to be effective in stopping my bleeding. I've had difficulty with diva-cup style products which also led me to believe I might have 'structural problems'. She agreed on all counts. It doesn't appear to be as common in Canada either. I don't know that I know anyone IRL who uses it.

If it will satisfy you, I can make a point to mention the 1/1000 risk of perforation when I recommend Mirena to others (though I'm sure their gynos would mention it before insertion).

Because all gynos are responsible and informed?  Really now.

Listen, do whatever you want.  I'm just saying that if you want children,  the risk is not worth it.   You may certainly disagree,  but if you end up with a problem, you will regret your decision for the rest of your life.

In my experience, gynos have been the best doctors I've ever had. Our medical system is Canada is quite a bit different than in the US. Just anyone with the money and desire to become a doc can't do that here. I don't mean to sound trite, I believe the US has expertise unparalleled anywhere, but I believe the average physician in Canada is far superior, based on my understanding of medical education and training, looser regulation in the US, and from some of my families experiences in both systems.

Your concern is genuine and I thank you. I'm informed and willing to accept the risk.

I have an IUD and this is my 10th year. I have the Miranda (?). It has been good for me so far. If you felt comfortable with it before than I would go back to that. Good luck

Agreed - and it's called Mirena.
