I like this one, a consensus document from the following groups:
AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF CLINICAL ENDOCRINOLOGISTS,THE OBESITY SOCIETY, AND AMERICAN SOCIETY FORMETABOLIC & BARIATRIC SURGERY
. Check out page 10 for a chart comparing the various procedures' weight loss success rates. As you can see, the DS kicks ass.https://www.aace.com/sites/default/files/Bariatric.pdf

I had the kick-butt duodenal switch (DS)!
HW: 344 lbs CW: 150 lbs
Type 2 diabetes and sleep apnea GONE!
As a pro DSer, I strongly encourage the DS. It is the only surgery you would need. When you start with one of the other surgeries, and add a revision to the DS as many people do, you greatly increase your risk of complications. And it is difficult to get insurance to pay for the second because YOU failed the first. I emphasize you, because that is what the insurance companies will tell you. Don't let them fool you. The other procedures just dont have the long term results. Don't let those other procedures fail you!
Best wishes on whatever you decide.
