Can someone help me with the new group?

It says log in using your social network.  ???  I don't want to log in through facebook and that is the only one I am on.

This just infuriates me.  Why couldn't you have started a group that you can join without all this hoo ha.

Agree! I have grown to hate social networks and their tracking devices.

I figured out how to create a new account without using a social network to join.

So I'm a member.  Not sure if I will participate but I'm a member.

Next to the username there is a link that says create new account. You just need an email. You don't need to log in with a social network.

WHen I went to sign up for the new group, which I did successfully, it said that I was LEAVING facebook. WTF!?!?

I don't get that either, but just go past that screen.  It doesn't seem to have anything to do with Facebook after that.  It doesn't pull through your Facebook ID.

FYI for anyone who hasn't registered, yet.

You CAN register by allowing them access to your Facebook, Yahoo, or other accounts, but you don't HAVE to. I wouldn't.

If I had my druthers, I'd remove that option. But, it is a free board and the company providing the server space controls that.
