Hey all! I was front page on the local newspaper yesterday morning! Here's the link to the article: http://magicvalley.com/news/local/twin-falls/area-teacher-us es-stability-balls-to-study-how-students-focus/article_41cbd 09e-bedc-5cdf-a37d-85884d0c828c.html. If you click on the "gallery" link under the article, it links to more pictures, including one of me that was the "big" picture on the front page!  The local tv news station did a story, too (although they got my name wrong lol): http://www.kmvt.com/news/local/Local-Teacher-Uses-New-Method -To-Improve-Learning-135063778.html.

I've used the balls since last March, and never even thought of talking to the media about it. One of the staff at my school contacted the media and told them they should come check it out. I guess I didn't realize so many people would be interested.
But now I'm glad I was pushed into doing it! It's been kind of cool!

Oh yeah, I implemented these as part of an action research project I did as a requirement of my Ed.S. degree. Since my DS, I've gotten my master's degree, am finishing my Ed.S., and then will continue on for my doctorate. I don't think I would have had the courage to do that if I was still SMO!

I did see that article, i live in the Twin Falls area also. I attended a seminar last night at St.lukes with Dr.Oakley, and have decided to start the process of getting my insurance approval for the DS. I have read your posts, and congratulations on your success.

Thanks! Even though I went to Brazil to get my DS, my sister, cousin, and two friends of mine have since gone to Dr. Oakley (he was very inexperienced at the DS when I had mine -- he's better now!). I wish you great luck!

This is a wonderful article. I bet this would have helped my daughter when she was in school. She wasn't hyperactive, but she sure was high energy and always liked to be busy.

I love it!  It makes perfect sense for kinesthetic learners.  I used to teach adults, and had "fiddle things" like pipe cleaners, playdoh and hard candy for those learners, and they were easy to spot fidgeting in their chair (I'm one of these too).  The balls don't squeak when they fidget, and the multi-tasking definitely helps with focus.  I wish I had those in the corporate environment.

Thanks for sharing! My son's Dr. just recommended using one of these for him. I really want to try it now!
