Congrats!

Regarding the GD testing, I can see why people wouldn't want to drink the amount of glucose required for the test. I'd much rather ***** my finger several times a day for a week or two to get an idea of what my actual diet is doing to my blood sugar levels.

ETA: I also wonder how many people actually still get GD post DS. I had it with my first pregnancy (pre-DS) and really hope that I don't have it again if I have another baby.

Bonnie,

I know what you are getting at about drinking all of that glucose for the gestational diabetes testing.  I know the there is a 2-phase blood test you can take in place of the glucose.

I did the nasty glucose at the time of my preganacy..... but I know if you ask over on the post-op pregnancy board, there will be an answer for you with the correct lingo.  I also know that some docs will only do the glucose test.  But, it is YOUR BODY, so go in to you appointment & dicsuss it with you doc & I hope that your doc does the 2-phase blood test in place of the high sugar glucose.

Here is the link for the board.  Do a post over there....

So many OB's are stupid when it comes to us.

Tell her to refuse the GTT and get the post paradinal test instead.

And remind her that she can refuse any test.

Congrats Bonnie.  As far as the glucose test for my first one since I was early post op the OB required me to do the 3 hour one which sucked.  With my second pregnancy I only did the one where you take that juice and an hour later they do the test.  It wasn't bad at all (well the juice was nasty).
