Jamie, I have been reading your posts. You are so brave and strong! Crossing my fingers for the approval!!!

By the way, mine would be a lapband (yuck!)  to DS revision...

Even though you are a revision.  There are FAR MORE experienced docs who do the lapband to DS.

Yes, it does have complications, but you will come out with FLYING COLORS!!!!!

I don't know if I would call program fees a standard but it seems that one surgeon may charge them and another may not.  Some charge a high fee and another a smaller fee, it just depends on the individual surgeon.  I could go into the whole justification of program fees but the last time I did that I ended up wasting my time and banging my head against the wall.

Anyhow, it is a bit disheartening to find a great surgeon who takes your insurance and then find out there is an additional amount you really can't afford.  I was in the same boat since my husband and I  had made the financial sacrifice so I could stay home with my kids. We didn't have an extra 3k lying around to help me fund my surgery. I was able to find a way to make it work and I hope you do too, either by going with Crookes or somehow finding a way to cover the program fee.

Every Dr. Crookes patient I have had the chance to speak with holds him in high regard.  If you would like more feedback from his DS patients just post a thread on here asking about him.  I am sure you get a lot of responses.

Yes, it's disheartening - especially when I have been working so hard to make sure I could afford the copays, labs, etc.
I see that you had your surgery last spring, how are you feeling since surgery?
Thank you for passing on the positive feedback regarding Dr. Crookes.

I feel great but the term "great" really doesn't even come close to describing how I feel. I tend to have bathroom issues on occasion but I think that was just part of the healing process. I I have also had a few issues with getting enough water in but I watch myself closely and try to keep on top of it. I didn't have to have intravenous fluids or anything like that but I now know the warning signs and step up my water intake.

I will try to read through other posts to see if that info was provided. If anyone has this info, please let me know. I will also make sure that is my 1st question when I speak to Dr. Crookes.
