Hey everybody, here's some food for discussion that's not really relevant to the DS way of living, but I want your thoughts on it anyway.

Have you seen this film? I feel so conflicted about what people should be eating.  I mean, I have no idea what "healthy" is anymore.  My whole life, it has been one spectacularly touted "healthy way of eating" after another, only to find out that really wasn't how I was supposed to be eating after all! I mean gee whiz, who the heck knows????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I don't believe there is one "right" way or "wrong" way to eat.  I think there are a lot of genetic differences between people that make different diets work for them.  But, yes, of course people should eat more fresh vegetables and fruits and fewer processed, preservative-packed foods.

I really don't see the need to define a specific diet that the entire population should be eating.

And no I see no reason to eliminate all animal products.

Try not to get worked up over documentaries.  Some are better than others.  Most intend to sensationalize their given topic.

Kayla-  I'm glad you shared.  I knew you would! Yay! I'm beginning to think that yes, there's no one way of eating that fits everybody.

yea... respectfully disagree... That may work for some people... but for some - not so much.
Unfortunately in today's world when we do not work physically - plan based diet may be way too many carbs that may turn the body into too much insulin production and weight gain.
The most weight I gained in the past on a vegetarian  followed by vegan diet..(6 months).  And I was hungry almost all the time, even when I do followed a very strict vegetarian - vegan all natural , minimally processed diet.  My body could not deal with that.   I think that was the last diet that really broke my "body" and metabolism.  I could not lose any significant weight after that, even when I returned to more "normal" diet.  Some people will thrive on that... some - not so much.

I do believe in as much natural diet as possible.  Avoid most processed food, with artificial ingredients in them.  I do my best to follow that right now, but still make it high protein, based on meat, fish, eggs, veggies and fruits.

Some say that grains are way too much carbs, and provides toxic carbs overload for most people.
Healthy way - for me - is as natural as I can... with as much organic, local, and in season products as I can get and afford.

Natural, natural, natural! Yep.  I feel like a giant walking hormone factory from all of the processed foods I've ingested over the years.  Ugh.
