lighting a candle in the bathroom seems to keep things smelling better and to me it's not the POOP that bothers me (or my boyfriend) as much as the gas if I eat carbs - which I do often- but I have my spray ready and we just laugh about it.

I would never have an overnight with anyone I wasn't comfortable with telling about the surgery! That's a good way to find out how caring & understanding they are going to be too I think. Of course there is the Devrom  if it not everyday or if you can plan ahead. I could never be comfortable trying to keep it all a secret.

Maybe if will get a few people to wait until they know each other better which is preferable too. If you cant talk about the bathroom issues how can you talk about protection? Or much more that could be important later? Waiting has its benefits.

Having sex with someone you don't know very well can be a lot of fun.  There's sex after waiting,  which is also good but it's in another category.  One is not better than the other.

The smell issue exists - some people find things that help,  some don't.  We are all different.  Unfortunately it is a matter of trial and error for each of us.

You'll try different sprays,  and flushing mid-poop,  etc etc.  See what helps you.

If it looks like you're going to have a sleepover date - don't eat carbs, dairy, etc starting from the afternoon before.  That should help.    Experiment a lot - devrom, blah blah.  See what (if anything) helps.  Also dietary stuff,  timing....get to know your own system and how and when it responds to things.

I dated my arse off after my DS (after I had dropped a lot of weight)...I didn't tell people about my surgery - none of their damn business.  Had plenty of sleepovers (and also having some good boning doesn't have to mean sleeping over 'til morning) and sometimes the smell issue was embarassing,  sometimes not,  and sometimes I didn't give a ****

Try not to worry about it - you'll do your best to control it once you have a handle on your own body (to the extent possible),  and after that it's out of your control and que sera, sera.  Focus on the fun sex and the date....believe me if the guy had a good night with you,  the stink will be much less important than waiting for you to get back in the bed for more fun.

I wish people would lay off the sanctimonious crap.  There's nothing wrong with a one night stand,  there's nothing wrong with having sex with someone you don't know well.  Let's cut the morality crap here.    I boned a lot of men during the couple of years after my DS.  I didn't "talk about protection" it was just expected and it happened.  Duh.  No glove,  no love.  And I didn't discuss the bathroom issues - talk about a buzzkill.

I say fart,  ****   have fun...sometimes it'll be a disaster,  sometimes it won't.   It's all good.  You'll have good stories for your book  :-)

Thank you everyone for your input.  A lot of helpful advice.  I am definitely going to pick up some of these sprays, citrus oils, and poo-pourri..lol.

Just don't eat anything that gives you gas if you know you're going to be spending the night, or going on vacation somewhere. (which for me anyway, helps with the poop smell too.)

I shared a hotel room with a couple friends recently, and I made sure to not eat anything that could give me gas.

As for the poop, I do a couple spray's of Medi-Aire into the toilet before I go, light a candle, and spray again before and after I flush. Also, if you can get up earlier and try to go you may avoid the issue all together. If he's asleep, he'll never know you went.

I'm 15 months out and I feel that I have almost-normal smelling poos... when I avoid foods that make me a gas bomb.

I moved in with my boyfriend about 3 months ago. He still does not know how awful a DSer can really smell.  I do two things most frequently, I turn on the exhaust fan and take my poo right before my shower, the smell is gone by the time the shower is done. Also, I occasionally wake up in the middle of the night and poo... leave the exhaust fan on, and its gone by morning.

I know what my offenders are and dont eat them (white noodles, white rice, white flour)

In my case, if I control my diet, I have almost-normie population type smelly poos. In fact, I couldn't believe what my boyfriend smelled like once!!

When we first started dating before I moved in... I would do things like... leave in the morning and poo at a gas station (I did that all the time)...

My boyfriend has a one bedroom, one bath condo so I remember being sooo afraid of ANY smell... but I've come to realize that... when I control my diet, I can have pretty average person smelling poops... I can never obtain smell-free poops... I think DSers sometimes obsess over ANY smell...
