Ok, I should know this, but can't find it anywhere.....I know I dont absorb fats and the fat soluble vitamins, and have to use the dry form...  SO, now I am taking Fish oil, which is in a gelcap.....does that mean I am not absorbing it fully?  Anybody know???  And do they have a dry form, or one that I can absorb if I am not absorbing this?  So confusing!!  Any feedback appreciated!

In oil? Probably not. I take an emulsion of omega 3-6-9 similar to the Coromega Vitalady carries. I get mine from VitaminShoppe. It's Barlean's Omega 3-6-9 Swirl. I take the Coromegas when I travel.

Hi GIna,

I was wondering about this too. How is Coromega or Barlean's Omega absorbed differently post DS? It is still in a liquid form and seems just as unabsorbable to me but what do I know. I really want to continue taking Omega's post DS as long as I know I can absorb it.  Which flavor of the Barlean's do you recommend?  Thanks!

I like the orange. It goes well with my chocolate or strawberry protein shake. My understanding is that the emulsion is smaller droplets of oil and easier for us to absorb. Only way to tell would be through labs. I want to see if my dietitian will add them next time.

Which labs are you referring to?  And you don't really mean you are going to see IF your dietician will add them next time, but you are going to TELL her to add them (if you were talking about to your lab slip) right?  (grin).

I've got to find out what to ask for first. lol  But I do ask her now. We have a pretty good relationship going. Stranger things have happened for sure! lol

i think vectomega is  more or less a dry fish oil supplement

From what I have read, Barleans is absorbed twice as much as regular fish oil.  So maybe that means DS people absorb 40% instead of 20%.  I don't know.

Vectomega claims it is absorbed up to 50 times more.  It  is made of hydrolipids and peptides instead of oil.  From what I've looked at it's pretty expensive, but if it is absorbed better then perhaps it's worth it.  I also found a site that says 2 vectomega pills equals 16 capsules of fish oil.  Who knows if this is true, but at least it is dry.

I haven't had DS surgery yet, but I'm definitely interested in this as I take a lot of Omegas daily as part of my bipolar regimen
