You have to come have lunch with me on campus on mac and cheese day in order to get it :-D. And if you can't do any noodles at all, you can't do this, cuz it's all classic ingredients. It is cheese NIRVANA though. Also real butter and real heavy cream WOOOHOOOO.
That's what I'm trying to tell you: I don't have the recipe. Neither does the chef, really. He does it more by feeling than anything else. Only HIS mac and cheese is this way. He's not allowed to retire until I have my masters degree :-).
Not sure I should be craving Mac n Cheese at 6am! Thanks a lot, Elizabeth! This sounds like my grandma's way of making it. She never had recipes for anything, but used the "country" way of cooking... tons of butter, tons of cheese, tons of cream! BEST stuff ever! Wish I learned how to make it.
