Endoscopy

So, ever since I have had surgery it has been very uncomfortable to eat or drink ANYTHING, and sometimes down right painful. At first I just thought it was normal and from having surgery. Well on the 19th I will be one year out and although it has gotten a little better (not much) it still happens everytime I eat or drink anything. I've lost 184lbs and am down to 130lbs from 314 and am still losing. I am about to enter the underweight category within another 5 lbs. It won't stop coming off due to the fact I can't eat enough to do much. It's so uncomfortable I find it hard to eat and drink. Soooooo, my surgeon wanted me to have an endoscopy and I did so today. Well we found a suture still in there near the bottom of my stomach near the spot where it empties into the intestines. Also a slight infection near the opening from the esohagas to the stomach. Does anyone think the suture could be the cause of my pain and discomfort or anyone have any ideas? No ulcers in there either. Thanks ahead of time :-)!!!

Could be.  I had an endo at two months out for the same reason, difficulty eating and drinking.  The doc must've stretched me out a little while he was in there - I've been eating like a champ ever since.

The slight esophageal infection.  Did ne say anything about Barrett's esohagus?  I had tht pre op, and was put on Nexium for a year to get the GERD under control.  At the 1 year recheck, Barrett's was gone, and I was cleared for surgery!

To put the brakes on the DS, you should probably be doing a maintainance plan.  This essentially increases your intake of complex carbs (fruits and veggies).

Yep I eat fruits and veggies just as much as I eat protein still it doesn't help. I can eat anything and I just can't eat enough of anything to help. No I haven't spoken to the surgeon yet they said he will call me and talk to me about what he wants to do.....

barrettes, is never gone, I get a edo every year by a team of Barrett's specialist at columbia university after 20 years diagnosis,  I had a special vsg to prevent regurgitation and I haven't regurgitated in 18 years since I had a Fundy wrap,  But the status of displasia(Barrett's) is to be biopsied for changes regularly,

Thanks for the info, Walter!

I'm gong to see my surgeon tomorrow for my now 6 month checkup (not sure why she changed the protocol, but I'm going to ask)

I'm going to also ask my PCP for a referral to a GI specialist.  I got heartburn last week for the first time since I've been switched.  I'm also going to ask Dr. Inman (or the PA, whicever) about it as well.

Sorry you are having this problem.  Why did they wait so long to do the endoscopy?

Well it was me that waited so long. I just kept thinking it was normal and it would get better as I healed, but I can't stand it anymore and wanted something done to see if something was wrong.
