OT...great product alert! (oatmeal & cookies)
I have always loved oatmeal! After the DS a lot of the "commercial" brands with the added flavors were not a good choice. I found Active Lifestyle instant oatmeal "weight control" at my local grocery store.
It comes in 3 flavors:
Almond Cranberry (my favorite)
Raisin, Apple, & Walnut
Maple Brown Sugar & Pecan
They average about 20 net carbs a serving (I know not the best) but they also pack 8 grams of protein! Perfect for that guilt-free oatmeal craving! On the plus side, it is easy on the digestive system...at least it has been for me compared to other things.
Bonus! Occasionally I like to experiment in the kitchen. I made some oatmeal cookies! Not bad...my first try to make them.
2 packets of oatmeal
1 large scoop of vanilla whey protein powder (52 grams a scoop)
2/3 cup water
dash of cinnamon
I lightly sprayed a cookie sheet with canola oil and spooned out 10 cookies. Put in a pre-heated 350 degree oven and checked them often. They were done in about 10-12 minutes.
These were not very sweet, perfect imo, but you may want to add sweetener if you like that. They are a great quick snack at almost 7 grams of protein each!
Enjoy!
