Is DS too aggessive for me?

The problem with the sleeve that I have heard about though, is that after 5 years or so, you start to regain the weight - like with the band.  The sleeve does stretch to at least 2 -3 times its size.  This is what I've been thinking about down-the-road- 5 years from now.  I don't want to regain this 50 lbs AGAIN, and at nearly 65, be thinking about another surgery.
Have a lot to think about.

You're right that the VSG doesn't have the track record quite yet. It's still a bit uncertain what the long-term results will be for it. It's still relatively new as a standalone procedure in WLS.

Right now most of the long-term results are annecdotal. But by retaining the pyloric valve, I don't think the VSG will have the bad regain stats like the RNY. But of course, it's speculation at this point.

It's malabsorbtion that keeps the weight off.  If you're looking to keep it off, the DS is the way to go.

I agree--you can consult different vetted DS surgeons on DSFacts.com to get more information about getting a longer common channel and/or a larger sleeve.

Thank you, folks, for your input.
I have to say, "Victorious_one," after reading the link to  your nightmare story, it means a lot  that you still endorse the DS so heartily.  It shows that, no matter how severe the initial recuperation /complication may be, the end results( and the REST OF YOUR LIFE)  make it so worthwhile: it must be, for you, of all people, to feel the way you do.
Thanks again.
