Yes there is evidently only two forms of bariatric surgery and we don't really deserve it any way......SIGH!!!

Our hospital does WLS but not DS, so we get alot of patients that are overweight, and I deal with this kind of comments all the time,,

some from my co workers( of course tiny thin people) and the Dr's at times too,,, really will get my attitude  going !!!l

I find my tolerance for that is very short these days !!!

It amazes me that they fail to remember how large I was.  Do they think I'll find it amusing to rag on the fat folk?  Seriously are they all ******g mental?

I dunno.....I just wish they would get their **** together.

So glad you were there for her!  Sometimes I'm just astounded by the stupidity of some people.  It isn't as if fat people dont' KNOW they're fat, some people just seem to feel like they have to reannounce it to the world, and to say that as she was going under!  If someone had said something like that to me in that situation, I'd be dotting someones eye when I woke up......stupid **cks!!!

You know i get that she is a complicated intubation and maintaining her airway is harder.  I bet she knows that too!  I also get he has a duty of care to make sure  she is aware of her health options.....it is just the blatant ignorance around the appropriateness of interventions and the behavior of those giving the advice that ****s me.

Fat people are not silly people.  **** Winston Churchill managed to win a world war and get quoted on every coffee mug and t-shirt for his acerbic wit without being a skelph. I just give up on some people.

Ah my sweet. I am so glad you were there for "Doris". It is medical professionals like you that we are all looking for when we are in that kind of horrible situation.

She was such a sweet lady I just wanted to hug her from the first second I met her.  It was no skin off my nose to let her know I walked in her shoes.  Thanks love. You are divine.

I'm really glad you were there for her. These people have no idea how much comments like that can cause people to become even more despondent about their weight. Medical professionals, more than any others, seem to need sensitivity training when it comes to weight issues.

Sadly sensitivity is lost on the hyper intelligent.  Many folks I've met along the way in this industry possess amazing brains and problem solving skills but a total lack of sensitivity.  I don't think you can teach it and often have to either fight it or accept that you sometimes can't have brains and heart in the same package.

Fat folk are the easy targets.  Fat people hiding in skinny people's bodies can still spring surprise guilt attacks when needed to keep the *******s right!!!

You are my hero Kirmy...and "Doris's" too!  When I worked in healthcare I met some of the most insensitive people.  As a patient I met a lot too...mostly they were doctors.  I have memories of more than 1 occasion being put in tears over things doctors said.  I wish someone would have been there for me when I didn't have the heart to strength to for myself.  I can't wait for the day when I am healthy enough to return to work in healthcare and at/near goal and can put some people in their proper place!
