Utah DSers??

Ok fellow Dsers..I'm paying it forward. My sister in law was here to visit for a few weeks and we got to talking about the DS (for some reason she thought I had the lap band). She is a PRIME candidate--fairly young, fairly healthy, but with several co-morbids (Type II Diabetes and HBP). I educated and informed and provided information. She's interested,, has scheduled her free seminar with Dr. Simper in SLC and checked with her insurance (covered!).

I'd like to hook her up with our Utah DSers (SLC) ...Anyone?

If you're involved in the SLC DS group, can someone message me about how I can put her in touch with you all? I'd like her to have local support (I'm all the way across the country!). I'm so excited for her!

TIA!

I live in Provo, Utah. (hence the username provolisa, ha ha) and I am getting ready to be able to schedule my consult with Dr. Simper. His practice. Rocky Mountain Associated Physicians, is very distinguished in the area of weight loss surgery. They were the first to qualify as a Center of Excellence in the state.

They have a website with its own forum, although it is nowhere as active as this one. They also have monthly support group meetings, with a different program every month, in Salt Lake City, Ogden and Orem. I don't know where your sister lives, but hopefully one of those meetings is close enough to where she lives for her to attend.

You can have her PM me if she has any questions. I will try to answer them, and I am willing to make a friend.

Good luck to you,
Lisa

I'm in Salt Lake and would be happy to talk with your sister.  I do not attend the RMAP support group, although maybe I should check it out to give the DS point of view.  Some DSers got together once...last year.  We are definately due again!  There are some other Utahns around, too.  We are a growing, but so far not very organized gang!

Hello!

I am from Montana but I am traveling to SLC. I am also using Dr. Simper as my surgeon. I will be going down for a consult in late October. As far as I have seen the staff has been great. Dr. Simper is definatly a great surgeon. I do not know all his 'stats' but I plan to ask him when I head down. I havn't heard one bad thing about him:) His DS patients are slowly coming out of the woodworks it seems. I will know a lot more info after late October till then this is all I have:) Good luck to your sister in law.
