More misinformation. Low B12 causes peripheral neuropathy, which  is serious but not the same as having your "brain fried". There are some new studies showing a POSSIBLE association between low B12 and memory loss or other cognitive impairment, but it isn't proven at this point. But if your point is that we should all be aware of our B12 levels and supplement if needed, I would agree.
     However, if this is a concern for you, keep in mind that low B12 is a much more common problem with RNY than with DS (though people with DS should also have their B12 checked with their annual labs). If the problem is caught early enough, the peripheral neuropathy can be prevented or corrected. If not dealt with, it can lead to permanent disability.
