I WANT ONE! Make many clones, please!

I have to break in a new surgeon. I can get my labs from Dr Fox still, but if I have an actual mechanical issue, now what? I know most in this area, but I think they all want to lengthen my common channel if they had a chance. LOL

P.S.  My year + long absence has NOTHING to do with my WLS, or my type of WLS. See my profile.

Why is it a surgeon wants to solve the problem in a surgical way?  LOL
I hope I have as good luck with the endo, rheumo and neuro as I did the PCP.    I think I'm likely going to have to see a uro doc too, with these sky-high oxalate levels of mine.

So when you  mean mechanical issue, are you meaning bones or gut?

Should I have something like SBO or other mechanical issue. I don't expect that, but I had SBO with my first baby, normal delivery. So, I don't completely trust my guts to behave in any normal way. And we are never out of the woods for SBO or intusussception.

I found a uro who was EXCELLENT. ID'd my high oxalates, knew the cure, back in the 90's. She moved. Of course.

Fast forward to Don's issues with kidney stones, and his uro didn't know anything about using citrates to combat them, nor did he analyze the stone he removed surgically. We can't assume all uros are interested in the "why" part of things.

As for the nutritional end, I have no one to rely on. No one at all. Nor do I know which kind of a doc would know. Each one knows only one piece of the puzzle and they don't grasp how interconnected it all is. Very scary.

So, you have one screaming the D is too high, another it's not high enough, another wondering how it got there and the one endo who was beginning to grasp it? Moved to Kansas.

My hema is a great guy and understands many things. But not iron. He didn't know it must be taken with C. My appt is half about my blood issues (not related to WLS) and half is iron lessons for him. Both of us have become good listeners. The issues I have are not nutritional, tho I have not completely given up that it can be fixed with a pill. LOL

ETA: fix at least a few typos!

I am amazed, stunned actually, at how little sometimes specialists know about an issue that's supposed to be THEIR specialty.   When I saw my first endo, way back when I was less than two years out, I asked him if he could tell me what role Vitamin K played in bone issues.    He looked at me and said, "Well, I know that K has to do with blood clotting?"    Doh.    The chief of bariatric surgery at Northwestern University, an endo, admitted to me that my knowledge of calcium metabolism surpassed his!

This doctor was so nice.   She said, "We'll get you all set up with these specialists, I'll coordinate everything, we'll get your labs in order, and then you can come see me for simple stuff, like colds and a sprained ankle, LOL."

Congratulations!  I have moved eight times in the past four years, and of course, each time have had to find another PCP.  I always take my labs with me, and tell the doctors that I'm "Doctor Shopping"
and ask them what their knowledge is of WLS.  Once I'm sure they are aware of it (at least) we go
on with the appointment and I tell them what I need.  It really works well, and they are very glad to
see my handful of printouts, taking copies of the pages for my new file.

I'm really glad you found a good one, and she sounds like a real keeper!!

My DH and I are switching to my 12 year old daughter's doctor for that very reason. She rocks that way!  She takes the time to understand and clarify, and is extremely respectful.  She talked to my daughter about drugs and sex at her last physical--no one every talked to ME about that on any of my doctor's visits to date and I'm 40-something!  It's so important to have that type of relationship with doctors.  I'm glad you found someone great.
