How much weight did you lose at 3 months post-DS?

I saw this posted on one of the other boards today and it made me wonder about the DS.  I think I may have seen this posted on the DS board before, but I could not find it.

How much weight did you lose at 3 months post-DS?  Is there an average expected monthly weight loss?  If so, how much (if anyone knows)?

I'm at 2.5 months post-DS and I've lost 43 pounds from my date of surgery.  My other weight loss was from my pre-op diet and part of my initial "insurance diet".  Two more pounds and I will have lost 100 pounds this year!  The NUT at my surgeon's office and my surgeon both suggested I may be losing too fast when I had my last appointment, but said we will have to wait to see what happens over the next several months.

It depends, no one is the same, and it helps to look at the weight loss as a percentage rather than in pounds. There are some who were 400+ and they would loose more pounds someone who was 300ish, but the percentages of weight loss are similar. The weight loss for the first few months is always the most dramatic, then it tapers off and slows a bit. At appx 3 months I was 58lbs down, which I was perfectly happy with even though others have lost far more.

I would also have to say from what I have read and seminars ect. that everyone is different.. I just reached my 4 month on September 18th I am down 82 pounds. My starting weight was 314 pounds. I also look at my weight loss as a percentage. I am something like 48% so I average about 20 pounds a month.. I don't know if that will continue or not but I lose in spurts, I won't lose for a week then all of a sudden 8  pounds gone..

I understand everyone's weight loss is going to be different based on various factors.  The question is, "How much weight did you lose?" not "What should I expect to lose?"  On the other board members are posting what their actual weight loss was for just comparison purposes...no other reason.

Btw...congrats on your weight loss so far!

At about four months out I had lost 100 pounds or 40% of my excess weight, almost all of that in those four months. I think you're doing just fine.

At 3 months postop (which was a couple of weeks ago), I had lost 53 pounds. My starting weight was 255/ BMI was 41. I have lost about 50% of my extra weight.

I need to update my ticker! Just entered Onederland today!

My WL was -21 the first month, -10 the second and -10 third month. Sort of typical for a LW.

I'm a guy, and I've been told guys lose faster on average.... but at 3 months I was down something like 85-90 lbs.

I know I hit 100 lbs loss at just shy of 4 months.

Then again, I lost 60 lbs my FIRST MONTH

Yes, I did get a little TOO thin (but not dangerously).. about 155 (I'm 6'2"), and then stopped and slowly gained back to a more healthy weight (RIGHT AROUND 185 (+ or - any given day).

You should be fine
