Some of My Labs--Vitalady Rocks!

I saw the hemotologist today.  He referred me for Venofer Infusions.  I start next week.  He seems to think I can stop taking iron all together.  Hmmmm.  I was half-way thinking that if I got topped off I could maintain with the Proferrin.  I'll definitely start taking them by themselves if I continue.  I definitely want to stop the Tender.  It is not friendly to me.

I don't know.  I'm just excited for infusions.  I could definitely feel the couple point drop in the last couple months.

I need to lose about 2 more pounds for a normal BMI .  I still seem to be slowly losing at over 2 yrs out...so may get there yet.

I think taking the Proferrin with the infusions is a good plan.

Hi Ann!  Who did you end up going to?  I tell you I felt off the charts incredible after my first set of infusions...second, felt nothing different.  Going from 5 to 26 was amazing.  26 to 55, bleh.  Can only wish for 100+.  My hemo told me not to bother with the Proferrin or any other by mouth iron since it was apparent it wasn't doing butkiss for me.

Can prealbumin be too high really?

Are you taking OTC potassium?  99mg ones?  I have substituted Fake  Salt (Morton's Salt Substitute) for the potassium pills.  I put it in my shake cakes.  There is more potassium in 1/4 tsp of this (610 mgs) than in 6 pills.  I use about a tsp a day and have had NO foot/leg cramps since I changed to this.  I still throw a pill in my pill box twice a day but will stop when I use them up.  I get labs as soon as I can get to the lab.  This house buying is a freakin' full time job.

I take 8 of the 99mg pills divided into 2 batches and I'm using Morton Lite Salt or sea salt in everything requiring salt. I'd still like to reduce the number of pills, so I'm going to ask my RD what she thinks.

I'm really more concerned about bringing that vitamin A down without crashing it again.

I can't help you with the A but it seems like you could add the fake salt to something by the 1/4 tsps and do away with all the pills.  That is what I am doing.

Gina, I got my doc to give me a script for Potassium Citrate.  Added benefit is it helps prevent kidney stones.  Mine is 1080 mg.  My last labs had my potassium at 4.6.    (Potassium chloride prescription is time-release and upset my stomach.)

I think that's what I'm looking for...not to much but will reduce the number of pills per day. Thanks.

Good idea, Becky. Does it make the shake cake taste salty?

Like almost everything else this was not my idea.  I think it was KaylaB's???  And I don't taste the salt in my shakes.
