Hello all. Im almost 6 years out from RNY. Im starting to researching possibly having a revision to DS for multiple reasons. Dumping and RH being the main ones. I feel like a failure to my surgery. I went from highest 300, surgery date 280-168 and back up to 230. i've tried my damnest and gotten to 218 but i am only 5'3" so i am still obese. Anyone with revision info that can help me out, point me in the right direction on some good info to weigh my pros/cons. I had never heard of DS or much other than the RNY and Band at my time of surgery. I truly wish i had done more research and know now that research is definitely key.

I know that surgeons that do RNY to DS revisions are very slim in the US. Does anyone have a list?

Thanks!!!

Hilary!

Hi and welcome. I had a revision from RNY to DS 8 months ago.

A good place to start is DSFacts.com. A revision is very complex surgery and there are only a few surgeons who are skilled. Drs Rabkin, Keshishian, Greenbaum, Roslin and Gagner come to mind. There may be another one or two. Most of us have had to travel for surgery, a hassle but doable.

Please read, research and ask questions.

Nah. Your surgery failed YOU. Stop blaming yourself.

If I needed a RNY-to-DS revision, I would talk to Dr. Rabkin or Dr. Keshishian. Dr. Rabkin recently posted a 53-minute webinar on his web site that goes through some info on revisions:

http://www.paclap.com/video/index.cfm?filename=webinar#video Anchor

Not exactly the most dynamic video, but it has some terrific info about the DS and revisions in it. I know from experience that he and his staff are great!

Best of luck to you.

Nicolle

Hi Hilary.  Seconding the above...the surgery failed you!

You can see my quick stats in my signature but just wanted to add that my RH went away after my revision and I had it pretty bad with the RNY. I wish I had gotten the DS first, it would have saved me years of guilt and shame over my failed RNY!
The DS has been so much better, a world of difference. I hope you can find a good surgeon and get started on your new  journey!
