Martina!!! ****HUGS***** How marvelous to see a life sign from you. You have landed in a very problematic boat and I am so sorry :-(.

I think that you will get some help if you look up how to eat after a "total gastrectomy" online. Here are the first hits I found on Google for that:

I hope this helps some.

Martina, it's good to see you back here again. So sorry you have had such a hard time.

I think EN gave you same great advice. Your nutritional needs will be more related to being a total gastrectomy patient. In addition to reading up on that yourself, maybe a gastroenterologist with experience with total gastrectomy patients could help, or maybe a different nutritionist - again, someone with specific experience with people who have lost their entire stomachs. There are others out there without a stomach, you are not the only one. Granted, most of them lost their stomach for a different reason, usually cancer, but still, their nutritional issues and post-op eating problems would be similar to yours.

I suspect part of the problem is the extensive trauma to your digestive system, and all the complications you are still recovering from. Your body is still going their a massive adjustment. The recovery of your ability to eat will likely be very slow and gradual, but time IS on your side.

I can't begin to imagine what you are going through, both physically and emotionally. I'm glad you have the TPN going, and hope your eating problems will improve.

Martina,

I don't have anything to add to the advice that is already here.  I just wanted to say welcome back and you were very missed.  Continue to improve (You are a very strong woman, as someone earlier said), and we will see you soon,

Lynne
