Has anyone had problems traveling with their passport since losing weight?  I'm traveling in Oct and thinking I maybe should get a new passport picture since I've lost over 100lbs since the passport was issued.  My passport is still valid until 2014.  Any thoughts or suggestions?

You have to get a new passport, not just a new photo.  Yes,  I recommend it.  I had this very problem and I did not get a new passport and it was awkward and a bit humiliating on several occasions while I was traveling.

But do it asap if you are traveling in October,  a new passport can take time.

On the gov site it states if there is a large amount of loss to renew..

I did do mine, after I came back from Norway, as SEVERAL times I had to also show another photo id.
And  comments of I need to change my photo. LOL

But then not only did I loose 100 pounds, my hair was no longer to my waist, and dark, it was short and red blond !!

I have a friend that hit a few snags because his passport wasn't updated after he lost so much weight. I suggest getting a new one.

He would probably call them something stronger than snags.  It was pretty awful.

Oh, I dunno - I kinda enjoyed having the customs agents comment on my weight loss - it's been so long, most people in my life don't have any idea, or don't remember:

That pic is from 2002, and my passport expires next year - I should apply for a new one soon.

Maybe it helps having perpetually chipmunky cheeks, but I was surprised how little they cared when I was traveling 7-8 months ago in and out of south America, and only got asked for my drivers license picture as well, one time.

I suppose it may also make a difference what country you are coming and going from.

I'm gonna do what Diana did, so you can see the difference in my passport and now. Gah, having trouble shrinking the second one.

As a TA we are told to tell people to YES , get a new passport for major changes.

Homeland security has been cracking down. You can be detained for horrid lengths of time. There is someone who was detained over two hours and almost missed a flight. It is just not worth the hassle of being hassled.

Travel Insurance and airlines etc will NOT give you a break for this type of delay either.. It can REALLY backfire.

You can't replace just the pic, you ahould get an entirely new passport.

My 2 cents worth.

I didn't have any problems with my passport. In fact I traveled to England a few years ago and when I got to TSA in the US the agent kept looking at me and back at the passport -- did this about 3 or 4 times. Then he smiled, handed back the passport, and said "Much better now, enjoy your trip". My passport picture was at my highest weight (around 340) and when I traveled to London I was approximately 150.

Just got a new passport to replace the expired one -- new pic.
