Oh. You're just mean. Go away, mean vet!

Do NOT make me do research and do NOT make me place value on my life!

Dawn....

this is a bad ... no... TERRIBLE idea. You need to think this through. You are making a huge mistake.... If you survive the surgery you will probably come out with a BPD. Not a good deal.

I'm sorry to be blunt but ... you're a dumb ass if you let this man do a DS on you ... though it sounds like he might be a pro at band removal.

And that is my 1 fair warning.  Now natural selection will take over if you shall become a statistic or not.

Do you win big in Vegas?

You are right ... If the surgeon said it ... It must be true. I'm so mean to think otherwise.

Normal BMI (24.9)  =  159#:  would have to compromise my muscle mass to get here without plastics, so this is not a goal.

After a lot of discussion with surgeons, scheduling (and cancelling) with a surgeon I never really felt comfortable with, and a lot of soul searching I have chosen my surgeon and set a date.

I will be having Lapband to DS surgery on Sept. 6th with Dr. Verboneen.  He was my lapband surgeon and I feel really comfortable having surgery with him again.  I asked him tons of questions and his answers are comforting to me:

1.  He has done 250+ lapband to ds revisions with no complications beyond diarreha, vomiting, and pain control in a few patients.
2.  He has done 300+ virgin ds's.
3.  He has performed over 14,000 bariatric procedures with no deaths and only one instance of a leak which was a by-pass patient.

I understand that he's not on the vetted list and that some may question my choice (and that's ok) but having had surgery with him before, and his willingness to answer all my questions, have made me feel comfortable with my decision (unlike my first decision...there was just something that didn't feel right and I can't explain it).

I hope that you'll wish me luck and send me a few good vibes.

Sue already pointed out that his website doesn't mention the DS AT ALL.  I did find this interesting, though:

  • Performed almost 10,000 laparoscopic procedures since early 1990's
  • Performed more than 2300 gastric band surgeries.
  • Dr. Sergio Verboonen is more than just a Doctor. He is a highly recognized specialist in Laparoscopic surgery. Dr. Sergio and Dr. Ponce and their team have given more than 2300 men and women the ability to live again! With zero slippages. These 2300 victims of severe obesity became reborn. Today they are happy people once again!
  •
  •
  • The above is straight off of his website.  I think he not only lies about how many DS's he's performed, but, what are the odds that of the 2,300 bands he's installed - not a single one of them has slipped?!?!?!?!
  • I'm speechless about the OP's decision.

Well...if you "RESEARCH" on the Google Machine for exactly 0.06 seconds, you find THIS kind of thing.  But not everybody has that kind of time.
