Dr. says DS is why I am alive today
I had a long hard visit with my cardiologist yesterday. He told me that my heart disease has progressed. I am doing everything on my end so now they can just get more aggressive with meds to treat me.
I felt like I was given a death sentance but he says look, if you had not had the DS almost 2 years ago you would not even have a glass to look at. Your glass is half full not half empty. At this time I do not have a scar on my chest or a stint in my heart so we are moving at least in the right direction.
If it weren't for the DS I would be dead today. I have lost a total of 184 pounds to date from 412. I weigh 228 which may not be my goal but I look great. I am 3 1/2 weeks post-op from severe ventral hernia repair, abd repair, panniculectomy/anchor cut TT (had 14+ lbs skin removed) and one week post cardiac cath with angioplasty.
My heart disease is genetic calcuim build up. I am thankful for the DS more than you can imagine. I truly believe the DS is a life saving WLS. I don't understand why its not done more. My son needs this surgery and I am trying to figure out how to self pay for it for him because insurance won't cover any WLS.
Dr. told me to continue following my dream of finishing my DNP and having a career. I am to llive and not give up.
I just wanted every newbe to know that the DS gives life to those that have lost it. I am proof. My labs are good and I am happy with what I eat. Gas is controled mostly by what you eat. DS puts you in control of your body just like driving your car. Follow the rules and live happy.

Carla, I'm so glad for you that the DS has kept you alive and improved your health and your future prospects. Hopefully, along with that, your doctors will find the right treatments to keep your heart disease in check.
And I hope you and your son will also find a way to get the DS for him as well. It's shameful that insurance companies, or the employers that contract with them, are allowed to create contracts such that life saving medical care is not covered.

Thank you Larra
My mother and I are working on saving money to self pay for my son to have the DS. I know for a fact that heart disease will be an issue for him probably starting in his 30's because it alway****s the next generation earlier.
I don't understand why insurance wont promote WLS but maybe some the soon that will change.

What a wonderful testimonial to the power of the DS. I sincerely hope that the treatment provided dto you will continue to extend your life, and you most certainly appear to be living every moment with the assumption that it will!
