Protein Shakes - IDS Low Carb Multi-Pro Whey Stack 28g/scoop (?) 2/day for ****s and giggles

You MUST pay attention to the Rules: (or you are wasting your $$$)

Must take Iron(with C) 1-2 hours away from Calcium, Dairy, Egg, Caffeine, Wheat, & Other Vites

Only 630mg of Calcium at a time

30g protein/shake at a time (Double shakes don't absorb)

No Zinc with Vitamin A

These vites have been Tweaked based on labs: (its a work in progress)

I stopped my B's (I sometimes drink energy drinks - which are loaded with B's) - My B6 was high and Thiamine was fine, Niacin makes me flush (hate that), and my hair has bounced back nicely (so I stopped the Biotin),

I stopped Selenium and Strontium - (trying to limit my daily pills - Selenium level was fine on labs, and I am trying to manage my Calcium with just Boron and K2)

I have doubled my D because my numbers told me to (it was great...for a while), Ionized calcium, Osteocalcin and PTH were beautiful, but D dropped.

My A is fine, but I like symmetrical batches (anal retentive) so it followed my D dosing change

Added Proferrin Forte (with Folic Acid) and stopped the quarterly IV infusions (we will see how that goes with my next bloodwork) % Sat was borderline, Transferrin was high, (hematologist thinks I still have a touch of inflammation lingering from all my post-op complications....so we will see how my next Iron Studies look with just pills.

Furthermore, I just drafted a Letter of Medical Necessity listing all my supplements (including my protein powder) for my endocrinologist to sign, in an attempt to either get my insurance to cover everything or (at least) be able to pay for them through my Federal FSA (tax-free).

Fingers are Crossed, will keep you posted.

I've been told NOT to take vit C with Proferrin specifically - vit C with all other irons, yes, but not with the Proferrin. I was taking them together, and when I moved my C to a different batch and kept the Proferrin by itself, my iron level actually increased.

Also, I have yet to see anything that confirms that you can't absorb more than 30g protein at once (not to mention that if you're malabsorbing some of the protein, and you only drink 30g at a time, then you're not absorbing the full 30g anyway).

I don't believe a letter of medical necessity will work for vitamins to be covered via FSA anymore - you have to just have your doc write an actual prescription, even for the OTC ones.

This is based on my labs and is subject to change. I adjust my own vites based on my copy of labs.

3 Complete multivitamins

8 Calcium citrate

1- 50,000 d3

3- 25,000 A

1- 400 E

2-K1- 100mcg

100 mg Iron

1 Vitamin C with the iron

probiotic 2 times daily

B1 once daily

Super B Complex once daily

zinc-50 mg once daily

Sublingual B12 once daily

Biotin 1000 mg once daily

I know it seems like a lot but I take it in about 5 batches through out the day. It has become like second nature. Not a big deal. Hope this helps.

You're only 8 weeks out, so it might be hard to find enough space for all the pills for a bit yet. Keep plugging away at it and you'll be up to speed sooner than you think.

My routine:

First thing upon waking: iron, copper, C = 5 pills total (using up the smaller strength Tender Iron, so when I get a new order it'll be three pills

With first breakfast: 2 multis (Centrum generic), 1 zinc, 3 calcium, 1 D, 1 B100 complex, 1 folic acid = 9 pills. A few times a week I use a liquid sublingual B12 too. Gonna switch to a bigger B12 soon.

Twice more sometime during the day: 3 calcium

Bedtime: 2 multis, 1 zinc, 1 D, 2 A, 2 glucosamine, 2 MSM, 2 E, 3 calcium = 15 pills.

(Glucosamine and MSM are not DS related. I also take 2 med pills morning and evening.)
