I know it's normal and I know why (thanks Diana Cox), but....

the fact that I am four weeks out and have gained 5 pounds is freaking me out a little.  Having been fat all my life with a failed WLS under my belt already, that nagging doubt is pecking away at my head.  "This won't work either". "You won't do this right"  "Way to screw it up already".

Damn negative self-talk!!

Just venting, trying to keep from hyperventilating!  LOL  Trying to step away from the scale...it's a hard habit to break when that number has been your "success" barometer all your life!

Just prepare yourself for a roller coaster ride. I take notice to what my scale is doing so I can get an idea of what to expect. There will be a lot of ups and downs and that is just the way it is. As a revision patient I have been very discouraged at times. Then when it seems like it is all over the scale will move for me. Just do what you are supposed to do. Stay away from the sweets and white carbs. If you can exercise do so.You will be a success. I'm 7 pounds away from my first goal at 10 months out. I do have a second goal of 20 more pounds but we'll see when the time gets there. For now don't panic just keep working your tool.

Step Away From The ******g Scale Before You Hurt Somebody
LoL
Really though, Stay the hell away from it.
It's going to play head games with you and play with your emotions until you're curled up on your floor in a ball whimpering for your mother.

BTW you're weight is going to fluctuate slightly for a few reasons but from your subject line I guess you've gotten this lecture before

Sometimes we all need a reminder to step away.

Think of it THIS way:

It takes 3500 EXTRA calories to gain ONE pound. That means you would have had to eat an extra 17,500 calories since your surgery if you had really gained 5 pounds.

That's an awful lot of broth.

Of course it is water weight, silly.

These responses are why I LOVE this place!!

I gave the scale to my son to hide and told him not to let me have it back for at least 2 weeks!

Thanks everyone
