Hating life right now- Did you have a revision at any of these sites?

I have been waiting for the second half of my DS since having a surprise 1/2 last July. I weigh more than at the time of surgery, have become diabetic and generally miserable over the past year while my surgery has been cancelled 6 times [this last time (supposed to be next week) I wasn't even told, found out by an OH member]. I wanted to see Dr. Kemmeter as he is close and does DS revisions laproscopically but Ontario Health Insurance says I have to see someone on this list. Did anyone here have a DS revision at one of the facilities below? With which surgeon? Was it open or laproscopic? Can we come up with a list of surgeons who do revisions to DS (as Becky suggested below?)

You might just ask for a list of surgeons who do RnY to DS revisions.   I would love to see a thread where all the RnY to DS revision surgeons are listed.  It would be very helpful to a lot of people.

Thanks Becky - I see Dr. O'Malley is @ Highland (looking at dsfacts.com). Not sure if he does revisions?? I have to pick from this list as they have an agreement with OHIP

 Last i heard O'Malley was refusing to work with OHIP.
I think OHIP prefers the Cleveland Clinic.   But I am not sure who operates tehre.

Dr. Hares was the only other DS surgeon I found on their list - he also refuses to work with OHIP.

If I remember correctly, you have a "VSG" stomach now, right? So (correct me if I'm wrong)...don't you just need the intestinal part of the DS? Isn't the more difficult part of the revision (converting the stomach from RNY pouch to sleeve) already done?

Sorry if I'm wrong, but if I'm right, maybe any DS surgeon would be able to do the rest of the work???

I'm really not sure what I have exactly, I was told I have a VSG stomach but I can eat more than my kids so I want stomach redone. Also, I was told I have a piece of intestine still hanging. So, you are probably right Karen.

Jennifer, you have been told repeatedly, over a long time now, who the revision surgeons are. That has not changed. Why keep asking exactly the same question of the same people and expecting a different result?

Call these surgeons and ask them yourself.

My original question was if anyone had had a revision at any of the approved centres. I changed the question when Becky suggested it would be a good idea to have a list of revision surgeons. I know that Dr. K and Dr. G do revision but I am not covered to see them.

My surgeon Dr. Srikanth does.  He's in Washington if you're willing to travel.  Maybe he's in your network.
