I still have a few more tests & I start treatment on the 23rd.  I'm getting a pulmonary lung function test, "MUGA" heart scan, and a bone marrow biopsy (& a port placed for an IV line) all this next week.

Thanks, Diane :)

Glad they are moving you along!  You are an excellent advocate for yourself!  You go girl!  Maybe a good time to put on a few pounds, if you can?

I have been eating like a pig lately.  I've been drinking 4 protein shakes/day and then probably getting around 75 gms of protein from food, which I know isn't ideal, but I'm trying to eat more carbs b/c that's what I absorb the most calories from.  All it's done is stop my weight loss for the last two weeks.  The cancer is further inhibiting my absorption of nutrients and calories.  My appetite has decreased and I often am now basically choosing to eat b/c I know I have to.  Also, I have a lot of excess fluid in my abdomen that's been secreted by the tumors, which is inhibiting my stomach from fully expanding.  It's like I have the restriction I did at 1 yr out again.

I've been eating a lot of double meat portion sandwhiches (takes awhile to finish), using 2 pieces of bread.  I have seriously eaten at least 2 dozen doughnuts this past week.  My boyfriend sent me a "standard" box of choclate & a small bag during that time period.  In addition, I bought 2 of the PARTY size chocolate bags and ate all of those.  I also ate an entire batch of homemade brownies by myself . . . ALL in the last 2 weeks . . . and my weight stayed exactly the same.  Oh, and a bag of doritos.

That's ridiculous.  There's no way I could have eaten like that before & not gained weight.  I'm not sure if I can physically eat enough to gain weight.  People have started commenting that my face, neck, & arms are getting really skinny while my stomach has stayed the same - actually, it's stayed the same b/c the fat was replaced with fluid.  It's not the best look around :(

Yes, I imagine it is really hard to eat and put on any weight.  At least you are not losing?  A dear friend of mine who has survived ovarian cancer, stage 3, for 5 years now, who also had had an RNY said she was the only chemo patient who did not lose weight!  She was pissed!  Maybe you will be as lucky?
