hiatal hernia

Has anyone ever had a haital hernia repaired after having their DS? I had mine 5 1/2 years ago, and now have a hiatal hernia. My doc sent me to a specialist; he is going to run tests to see if he can even fix it, as I guess they usually use some of the stomach (which I don't have) in the repair process. So was wondering if any of you have had successful repairs post-DS?
Thanks!

Not me, but I want to bump your post and wish you well.

My very limited understanding of hiatal hernia repair is that there are generally other options in addition to the "usual" method. You might have to hunt for a creative or otherwise experienced surgeon, so don't give up with just one or two consults. I know going further involves big road trips out west, but if you can possibly manage it, don't just sit there and suffer when there are other options further away.

I had a haital hernia repair, pre DS.  the procedure I had was a nissen fundoplication in which they wrap the stomach around the esophogus and sew it together,  this had to be taken down before my DS not an easy thing.   I do not believe a fundoplication can be done post DS since that part has been removed, so I am not sure.  what i can tell you is that was a painful surgery to recover from , the DS was a cake walk compaired to that....hopefully someone will give you some info......
