OT-Knoxville peeps
As the owner of a manly man of a certain age myself, who fell no more than 4 feet off a ladder that tipped over when the subfloor broke last summer while remodeling our house, and who ended up with a shattered hip (wearing a heavy tool belt, he landed square on a floor joist - no give), I feel your pain and anguish. He is still suffering from pain from that and some limited mobility.
Look at it this way: (a) he didn't hit his head; (b) he didn't hurt his neck again!; (3) the ribs and lung should heal pretty quickly and without too much long term repercussions; and (4) NO NERVE DAMAGE from the spine. It will seem like a "lucky break" in that context?
Please give Don my regards, and tell him to be more careful (ahahahaha!).

Oh bloody hell Don! Keep that man on a leash Michelle! At least hide the ******g ladders he is worse than me for dropping off **** like a stone. Sorry to you both. **** I wish I was there to drive about like some estrogen infused trucker from hell. I would have to insist on regular cups of tea and full access to my i-pod play list...oh and peanutbutter chocolate thingies.
He got off lightly but will likely be praying for it to all be over (ouch mother******g ouch big time). You don't need the stress and neither does he the poor bugger.
HUGS!

Michelle, I'm so sorry for Don's mishap and the injuries received as a result of! I was hoping to meet you in Indy at Lori's house, but if it doesn't work this year, then maybe some other time.
Your biggest concern is making sure Don is well taken care of, nothing else matters at this point!
Love and prayers for both of you!

Actually, both of us would like to keep the company going. Don't count us down yet.
The thought of not completing the trip is CRUSHING to us, so he can technically drive and ride. He cannot fly, so he stays here or he goes with. End of discussion. To come home, we either go back the way we came or we go across the N. Guess which I pick?
