PCP put me on Flush Free Niacin and Omega-3 Fish Oil to try to cut the bad cholesterol in half. I have to have my labs done again in 3 months. I have the lab worksheet. I am wondering if when I see the surgeon on Wednesday (about something unrelated to DS to start with) I should ask him to add the rest of the labs in?

You're just a baby DS, so your cholesterol hasn't had much time, but the DS will most likely take care of high cholesterol.
You won't absorb much of the fish oil either. There are a couple of omega 3 supplements that are supposed to be more easily absorbed and water miscible - Vectomega, which is a tablet, and Coromega, which is a cream ( I use the orange, and it actually tastes good).
And yes, ask for the missing labs to be drawn when you go it.

Oh sorry Bearmom I havent had my surgery yet. I m still way pre-op at this point. I am just trying to figure out if, aside from quitting smoking and losing 10% of my excess weight, I can boost any of my levels on my labs so that I come out of surgery with somewhat of a head start on the whole process.
My cholesterol went form a UK 6.5 to a UK 1.3 four months after my DS. It now sits at a perfectly healthy and desirable 3.2. The DS is a cholesterol smashing machine. Just chill and let it do its thang. Also you can toss the fish oil straight into the loo and avoid having to take them as the oil comes straight out your bum without doing a jot. We don't absorb oil petal which is why you are likely getting slicks after taking the wee beasties.
If you can get more labs that would be great. I'm looking at you albumin of 3.6 and thinking it might be a good idea to add a couple of protein shakes now. You are probably like the rest of the population and low on vitamin D and might want to add some vitamin D3 and calcium citrate along with a multivitamin. I also second the recommendation to start Coromega.

I have calcium carbonate. Will that work for now and change to calcium citrate when I have surgery? And I start on the Vitalady pre-op plan first thing in the am. i'm all set up and raring to go except for Iron and multi-vitamin but I will stop at the health food store on my way home from work tomorrow and pick those up.
