Let's prepare an ER info package that slam dunks the idiots we might encounter
Maybe that is the answer Becky. Keep jump drives with nothing but pertinent medical information. Make an ICE folder and fill it with everything one would need to know about our DS and our medical history. Everything is ran by pc's, even by EMT's/first responders could access it...it would only take seconds to load a jump and obtain the information. But in the meantime, I just asked DH if he would know what to say about my DS in case of an emergency. He looked over at me completely lost...said something about "get that list". My work is cut out for me! (hand to forehead slap)
I saw a medical alert bracelet at Walgreens that was a flash drive that you can put all your info on. I've been meaning to go back and get one for this very reason, but just haven't yet.

Link not working so if you go to walgreens.com and search for medical alert bracelets they will pop up.

Monique you won't believe this, but I found this one and it was supposed to be sold at WalGreens, CVS, and Target but I could only find it on Amazon. I was going to go with a cute bracelet or necklace, but as someone posted it may be hard to notice it is a medical alert gizmo. So I decided to go with one that actually looks like it would be intended for its purpose. I should get it after Christmas so I'll tell ya'll the pros and cons of it.
I really need to get something made & put into the cars (folders, thumb drives maybe both). When I see Dr. Hill next month I am asking for a copy of all my surgical records for just this reason. Oh, and I'm going to print up a nice colored picture of my new anatomy so that is in there too.
I just made a list of all my supplements and meds on my computer, so that is going on my thumb drive as well, plus a printed list. hmmm.....maybe I should make smaller copies to keep in my wallet too.....
Can't wait to hear what others are doing.

Thank you for bringing this up. Even though I am pre-op I have thought about getting a medic alert bracelet or something like that. After looking around and thinking about it a little bit I came to the conclusion that a typical medic alert wouldn't be enough, too much information to provide in case of an emergency or a trip to the ER. I love your idea of the flash drive. I know they make all sorts of flash drives, I would love to find one that is on the smaller side that looks kind of like a charm that I could attach to a chain and wear as a necklace or use on a charm bracelet or if all else fails just attach to my keychain.
Here are a couple of links that I quickly looked up:
