How much Advil/Ibuprofen is too much?
It seems to be the only thing that helps my chronic arm pain - and lately, my all-over-body aches.
I have an appointment with my doctor (not DS surgeon) on Monday, and we need to talk about alot of things.

Post-op, ibuprofen irritates my stomach. I just deal with the pain until it's vicodin-worthy and then I take SMALL amounts as needed. I mean...I have some Vicodin from 2004 sitting around here, so it's not like I use it on a regular basis. But when I do...I take half-dosages and it seems to help a lot.
Is your chronic arm pain in any way related to your current weight? Is it something that might diminish with weight loss?
The pain in my arms has never gone away - and it's been long and on-going, not having anything to do with weight. I've had tests with a Rheumatologist and a Nerve Specialist. Nothing definitive has ever been found. I feel like I've been weight lifting, and believe me I never lift anything heavier than an occasional bag of groceries from the store or a slightly heavier than average laundry basket.
I have to coordinate what I tell my doctor on Monday to what my DS surgeon recommends - I still find after all these years when you meet a new doctor and mention the DS you get the "blank stare" look, and quite honestly - it's a little disturbing to see so many medical professionals appear to be so clueless about this operation.

Some people are more sensitive to NSAIDs than others. I have read Dina's story, and it IS scary---but keep in mind that she was taking MASSIVE doses of very strong NSAIDs. Everyone is at some risk when taking NSAIDs---you simply have to weigh the risks versus the benefits.
