Hello Everyone! - Still Miserable
well, I was a charge nurse on a Liver/Kidney Transplant unit about 10 years ago and I called the chief surgeon (he is 2 hours away) and he has offered to treat me free of charge and to get the hospital administration to waive any extra co-pays due since his hospital is out of network. He is a liver guru and an excellent surgeon....just not a DS surgeon. I am planning to get my diagnostics together with my GI here, then bring all the CD's with me to see him.
His surgeon was Dr. Warden. I try to tell everyone to RUN from this doctor.
Dustin, I am sickened, heartbroken to hear you are doing so poorly. I was afraid of that.
I'd try to get out to SF to see Rabkin, or track down Gagner. Roslin also has a record of taking in patients abandoned by their doctors, so I would consider coming to NY also. I think he could help you. Keshishian also not a bad idea. You are going to have to travel, but you don't have a choice.
There's also a DS doc in Lafayette, and I am blanking on his name, but might be worth a try to contact his office, too... Please keep us updated. :-(

the DS doc in Lafayette is in the same practice as Warden, Gary Stephens.....My wife called Keshishian's office (but never spoke to him directly) when I was septic in the hospital. I was optimistic that I would heal, but now I guess that is not the case. Thanks for your concern. I should have listened to you in the first place.
****hugs***** Dustin, it breaks my heart to hear that you are still in such misery. I remember fretting about the surgeon issue, but it sounded like it was going well at first :-(.
It's time to get a new treatment team, my friend. Please get on the phone ASAP with Dr. K. He does a lot of this kind of consulting.
Your liver etc. doc is probably a very good next choice. You'll be able to explain the DS to him just fine, I would imagine. If I were you, I'd still get Dr. K. on board immediately and see about hooking liver doc up with him.
This doesn't HAVE to be about your DS. So a super experienced "guts" guy just might have a good chance of finding some way to help.

thanks EN....you are always my favorite poster......
I appreciate your input.
I just ran into the cracker jack GI doc at the hospital and he got his nurse on the phone and worked me in for an appointment and an EGD for Monday.....he tthinks I may have a kink or something so, he will scope me soon. In the meanwhile I will set up an appointment with the liver surgeon. It always pays to know docs on a personal level....Too bad my judgment led me astray with Dr. Warden, although I asked MANY, MANY of his colleagues before making my decision to give him a shot. If only I could eat that DAMN Baconator that Kerry has everyday, I would be a truly happy camper!!!

Dustin,
I thought months ago you were going to see Dr K .? I realize monies are limited, but your life is worth it ! I also like Melody's idea of Gagner or another vetted DS surgeon. Might also consider Dr Rabkin.
You know I think Dr Warden is a horrid surgeon. He NEVER knows what to do with his complications. Please stop messing around and get to someone with more experience. We do not want you to become another one of Dr W's statistics !

Revision #2 Dr John Rabkin June 21, 2013; First Revision DS - Dr Maguire 5-18-09; First DS 7-15-2003 Dr Clark Warden = Third time is the charm
$$$$$$$$$$ is the major issue....I am the sole breadwinner and I will lose my house and have to put my kids in public schools soon..........I know I have to take care of myself to take care of them...........I am working on a viable solution with the resources I have. At this point I should have stayed FAT and hypertensive.
I only have one tiny piece of advice.
Protonix!
I know everyone is different, but AFTER I had my gall bladder out I went through hell. Nothing sat well in my stomach, I felt nauseated, sick, heartburn-y almost all the time. After countless other drugs and endoscopy etc, Protonix was what actually worked. I would highly recommend it, I know of at least 5 people who literally think it was "life-changing".
Other than that, I really hope you feel better soon. Maybe part of it is you need to lay off the 12-hour shifts? That's got to suck. The bills keep coming even when the paycheck doesn't.
