Please please give me more info!  This is my best mates Dad I am talking about and if I can share this with him it may save a LOT of heartbreak.

RIP Mickie aka Happychick.  You will be missed deeply.

See my reply above. I believe the biomet protocol is what is extending the life of joint replacements.

Basic dentistry is and some therapeutic cosmetic procedures.

A friend of mine lives in Scotland. I finally met here in real life and was shocked to see just how bad her teeth were. Both her and her husband's. The only time I have seen teeth that bad here has been on individuals who have not seen a dentist at all. I don't consider what I saw on her "basic dentistry" care. More like ignoring the problem hoping they go away.

If that is an example of Basic care, I'll take ours thank you very much. And I didn't have dental care for about 20 years but made it a point to go to the dentist anyway and paid out of pocket.

My BIL has always had dental insurance but is one of those who woldn't go.  He's an ass about stuff like that.  Got his dentures at age 40.

Their daughter, now pushing 40 herself, used to say, "I can't stand the idea of someone's hands in my mouth."  I know she never goes to the doctor, I don't think she's ever had a pap smear, she probably doesn't go to a dentist either.

And all of that is with US medical and dental insurance.

Don't blame the system...

Actually it proves my point...

Your BIL and his dd just don't use the US system to their advantage. The system is there. My friend would use the system if it were there. Big difference.

Did you SAY that you friend explained that they would have gone for care if it had been available or are you just assuming that they would have been reasonable?  Cuz I must have missed it.  All I saw was that you said you prefered our system to their results...which could be because of a lack of available care or could be because they aren't very good about getting even basic care.

Because there are some not very responsible people in BOTH systems, I was just mentioning--or trying to--that your friends might be as irresponsible as my BIL and niece and would be under any system.

I didn't have to ask because she has mentioned the lack of available care in her emails to our group. It frustrates her to no end. Liz

My friend doesn't belong to OH. She is an IRL friend from another group.

Tihs will be my last attempt...and then I will either have a drink or start crying...lol

•You mentioned that your friends had lousy teeth.
•You did not mention that they WANTED more dental care than they were getting.

•You said you didn't need to mention that they wanted more dental care because your friends had mentioned it...on another group...a board that I--and probably several others here--do not read.

So how, exactly, were we supposed to know why your friends have disgusting teeth?
Certainly not because YOU told us.  You did not.

How are we supposed to know that your friends had said--elsewhere...somewhere we canlt see--that they wanted better dental care?

DO YOU SEE THE PROBLEM YET?  You are expecting other people to know what they wrote and your read somewhere else.
