All of you who are applauding the Less Government Regulation In Our Lives tirade realize that the guy works for an oil company? You know, those poor over-regualted oil companies...just doing their jobs and making a reasonable profit and not hurting anyone along the way? Yeah...THOSE oil companies.

I hate political hype. Clinton and both Bushes got blamed for things they had nothing to do with too, but I have never in my life seen the kind of vicious attacks that Obama is getting. I'm not referring to Kerry's post, I do not see that as an attack, more of a misplaced complaint. But the emails I get from my more right-wing friends are unbelievable. Obama is going to round up all the conservatives and have them executed as terrorists, he's going to kill everyone over 65 to save money on health care, he's going to declare martial law, he's a member of al qaeda, etc. It's so over the top it boggles my mind. I sometimes wonder if this country is headed for another civil war.
Kirmy, is it too late to ask you guys to take us back? We were just kidding about that revolutionary thing.

"The two-party system in America has made a mockery of democracy by denying people any real choice in determining the candidates who will represent them. Candidates are selected through the power plays of the party machine and such political activities produce candidates who best represent the interests of the political party rather than the common good of ALL the people.
The essence of true democracy is not only the right to vote, but also the right to select your own candidate. To be forced to select between party dominated choices is to have no real choice at all. One must refuse to be the victim of being forced to choose between the lesser of two evils. The majority of American voters were so busy choosing the lesser of two evils that they ended up putting into office the evil of evils. Thus voting in such an election is to have no choice at all.
Suppose you had a choice of marrying one of two spouses. One is a prostitute seven days a week and the other only practices their trade on the weekend. If you are interested in choosing the lesser of two evils, you would decide to marry the weekend prostitute. But you really have no choice at all, for whatever decision you make, you still end up married to a *****!"
I am not advocating more or less government either way, I am just saying that we as a populace need to wake up to the fact that so much QUESTIONABLE legislation is being passed in our name for our own good and or protection that we need to look past the BS fluff news that is dumped upon us each day and champion the things the we each hold dear and fight for our rights before they are slowly eroded away... I don't care about Lindsey Lohan's prison stretch or where Lebron James is playing next year or any of the other crap they force feed us with all the rest of this they are trying to slide in in plain sight...

I too have seen questionable legislation from the former administration and didn't like it. What I find odd is the current President said during the campaign what his platform would be and he won the election and everyone acts surprised he did those things??? You too can go out and run for office or back your candidate of your choosing or you can vote for none of the above. But unless you go out and support and work for those candidates they will never get the nod. Most candidates work hard for a nomination and I for years have worked hard for those I support. Sometimes they don't win and I accept that. I then vote for the candidate that most closely has my political ideas. I have never been forced to vote for anyone I didn't want to vote for. Are sour grapes sour?
