Finally HOME and a few questions about feeding tube

Yea, it was scary, IS scary to me even now. That is why for ME and my body I personally revised because my protein intake wasn't horrible. I could bang out 60 grams before noon easy with breakfast and my shakes. Of course I was having a bowel movement 10 times a day, so I should have known I wasn't keeping hardly anything I ate or drank.

We all "owe" each other.  It's a mutual life-saving project around here, imho.

Welcome home honey!  What a rough start you've had!  I know that this will fade into a bad memory within the next few months but until then I am soooo sorry you went through this.

As for the bowels not opening...you're producing gas right?  Just keep yourself alert for gas as if you're not moving your bowels at all i.e. no motility and no flatus then you could have an illus which is very common after any bowel surgery minor or major.  It shouldn't be an issue as they resolve themselves once your bowel is rested (nil by mouth and feeding tube) most of the time.  You said you were having cramps so I'm guessing this is not the case and there will likely be plenty of toilet trips in your future.

You are manging this very well and with great dignity.  Well done and keep your eye on the prize Mrs.  Be well. xx

Hi Charity,

Glad you're home and on the mend, you've had a rough road, so here's hoping things smooth out for you now.

I had a feeding tube for 6 weeks and I used it a lot to stay hydrated; I just couldn't drink enough to do it on my own. Barb would usually push 6 or so of those giant syringes full of Gatorade into it; always followed but one or two of water to make sure it was flushed out. I also put a few protein drinks through it and once in awhile some of my liquid meds. For me, it was a lifesaver and I used it all the time.

You can put pretty much anything liquid through it that you would normally drink or swallow. I would think the liquid gas meds would be no problem.
