I like those HUGE turkey legs (even pre-ds!) and of course funnel cakes/elephant ears.  I haven't been to a fair in years because I couldn't ride any of the rides but this year I may have to go and take the kid!  :)

The DE state fair starts next week, and we're going on Wednesday.  Last year, DH found us deep-fried Reese's Big Cups on a stick.  They were AMAZING!  I hope they have them this year, and that I can find some deep fried butter.  If I can find the deep-fried bacon on a stick (with or without sauce), I'll have some of that.

Our traditional fair food is the Scrapple sandwich, though.  I toss most of the bread and slather the stuff in ketchup.  YUM!

I have never had a Scrapple sandwich, what is it? I am going to have my eye out for this deep fried butter. Karen

The PX over here has started carrying Scrapple. I have 3 packages in my freezer right now.

I think I might need to move to the States, or perhaps do a cross country fair tour.

What does the largest free fair mean? Our fair is free to get into, now it is a little thing, but no gate fees, if this is what you are referring to. Never heard of hoop cheese, this is something else I am missing out on. Karen

Corn - I had 1 small ear (7") - last night and one more the night before. I had no issues - but I also knew going in I needed to chew it very very well,.,. It tasted great.

I live in Indiana home of the corn. I eat fresh sweet corn at least once a week when it is in season, and then can me some for the winter. I do love it in salsa. It has never bothered my gut, so I think I am lucky. Karen
